Brassy Bargain

It's Monday, AGAIN! And you know what that means?

1.) Friday is too far away,
2.) and you can receive 10% OFF furniture at City Square Thrift!

I like to make the most of my lunch breaks which means I drive around in search of the nearest thrift stores &
estate sales. I recently came across City Square Thrift Store near my office and am happy to announce we are the proud parents of a new (technically only new to us) shiny brass coffee table. I was actually on the hunt for a campaign dresser, but happened to stumble across this diamond in the rough.

I didn't NEED this coffee table (& wasn't looking for a new one), BUT I love changing up the decor in our house AND this coffee table was a STEAL! It was originally priced at $50, but right next to the price tag was a 50% off sticker. Score! Who can resist a $25 coffee table? Not me! Which is why I couldn't pass it up...

OH, but wait! It gets even better! I get to the register and City Square offers an additional 10% off furniture on Mondays, making the grand total: $16.24! Done and done!

I shoved my $16 steal into the back of my SUV, drove back to my office and waited out the rest of the afternoon in anticipation of placing the new coffee table in our living room.....

....AND here she is!

close-up details:

Our new coffee table is great because:

** it allows you to see more of the rug which I love,
** the bottom is a mirror-like material which creates a neat reflection of the objects in the room,
** the gold/brass color matches the design in our couch pillows and
** it brightens the overall tone of the room!

Side note: If you've ever wondered what Bayley would look like with antlers, this pic is for you :)

Bayley and I both agree, the fun thing about thrift stores is the inventory is always changing and you never know what you will find! No lunch plans today? Google thrift stores near you. Please keep me informed of any great finds. Happy Monday!

Missing Michigan.

This Friday, makes me miss last Friday because we were in Michigan relaxing on the beach, enjoying cooler weather and admiring the beautiful scenery! Clay & I are very thankful that we have been able to go to Michigan with family for the past three years, however, every year we've come back from our trip we ask ourselves - why do we live in Dallas again?!

CJ's School Bus Birthday!

The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round! Obviously CJ's mom's wheels were turning when she came up with this adorable theme! What boy doesn't like trucks, cars AND yellow school buses?!

Not only did the birthday boy get a custom school bus invitation, but he also got to be the bus driver!
CJ's looking cool in his shades while turning the big T-W-O.

Here's CJ holding on tight to his school bus with his party planner extraordinaire (a.k.a. his mommy).
Check out her color coordinated outfit, LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!

Note to self: I will do this for all my future children's birthdays.

As the two year old tots entered The Little Gym, their parents passed this table
complete with name tags, family photos and a wooden school bus.

CJ left his school bus on the table to run and play with his friends,
but balloons and juice awaited the toddlers for their cupcake return.

The amazing table-scape by Kodi, CJ's mom. She thought of everything!

What a great idea for displaying photos and themed artwork at a birthday party
(especially if you are not hosting the party in your house).

color coordinated cupcakes!

Grey and white paper straws match perfectly with CJ's grey & yellow school bus decor.

CJ's birthday party even had school bus party favors.
Kodi made these cute buttons to match the invitation and seal each gift bag!

I love that Kodi displayed the birthday pennants on a vintage chalkboard.
What a neat idea for a school bus theme!

Overall, a fabulous 2nd birthday party for a school bus loving kid. Happy birthday little CJ!

Lastly, Ms. Frizzle hopes this party
gets your wheels turning.

mr. & mrs.

One of my favorite pieces to design are Save the Dates. I love photography and really love how simply adding a photo to a card can make it that much more personal! I had an excellent time designing Josh & Lindsey's Save the Date. Their announcement was exceptionally fun to make because:

1.) I love this couple!
2.) They dubbed me their photographer for a day.

I could not have done their Save the Date photo session without my trusty sidekick, Lisa (a.k.a mom). She carted around chairs & props, kept an eye on their precious puppy Penny and provided laughter when needed! Very thankful for her help :) Aren't moms the greatest?

For our photo shoot, we headed to White Rock Lake to capture the future Mr. & Mrs.
These are a few of my faves!

sailboats + kisses

They are going to have some super cute babies when the time comes! Don't you agree?

And last but not least, the Save the Date designed for Mr. & Mrs. Buis who recently tied the knot in March!

Such a fun wedding to be a part of and I must say congratulations to Josh & Lindsey who just purchased a house!!
And we all know a new house means decorating is in their near future and this of course makes me happy :)
